St Patrick’s Day Gross Motor

We are long overdue for a seasonal gross motor post! I have not done a seasonal gross motor post in a while. I was doing the Old Lady Swallowed series for a while and I thought I would catch up with that series today! I love doing the gross motor and book pairing activities. My girls have a fun time with them. Even my older girls have a fun time with these activities.

Gross Motor Movements

I always read through the book and then do the movement. Then we read the books do the movements as we read the book. That gets do be lots of fun. Then we do the movements with the dice. Plus I do the movements with them. Yes, I really do it with them. It makes it so much more fun to join them. I get a great workout and loads of laughs with them on the floor and laughing around.

Old lady: walk across the room with different speeds slow or fast.
Clover: jumped up in the air spreading out our legs and arms.
Daisy: start on the ground and grow up and spread out your arms.
Butterfly: lay on the flap arms and legs in together to your center
Bird: flap your arms and fly around the room.
Pot: we pretended to have a big spoon and stirred the pot.
Gold: flexed our fingers ten fingers for the gold coins.
Fiddle: pretend to play a fiddle.
Rainbow: we did some bowing forward and side to side for the rainbow.

The Dice

After we have read the book, I have the cards cut up from the St Patricks Day Pack. I put them in our photo die. This allows the movements to come up ramdon and we get to them them in repeative times. This is really a lot of fun for my girls and I to do. My older girls will come home from school and see new dice set up and just rush to do them. These dice will be set up for a while for them to play with.
