Get Kids Moving With Tape Line ABCs
Gross motor has always been one of our favorite things to do inside! Yup inside the house. Because we can’t always get outside.
I started the ABC Gross Motor with the girls awhile ago. I first one I posted was for the Letter D. I have not posted all the letters we have done.
I thought I would show you a few more things we are now doing with our ABC letters! Plus this does not take up tons of room to do.
I love doing these tape lines because it is easy and simple to set up! Plus you can have so much fun with them. And you can leave them up for kids to do on their own.
If you are looking for more activities that kids can do on their own I recommend The Superkids Activity Guide to Conquering Every Day: Awesome Games and Crafts to Master Your Moods, Boost Focus, Hack Mealtimes and Help Grownups Understand Why You Do the Things You Do. It is a great book full of things that kids can do on their own or with very little help. It has more ideas for tape lines as well.
What you need: masking tape or painters tape.
They walked around the lines of the F. I just let them wander around the lines as they want to do. Let them get a feel for the lines of the letter.
Once they know the lines we then switch things up and I give them a few directions.
I had them shuffled sideways along the lines. This works different types of muscles in the body and makes them think about what they are doing.
My girls just love hopping along the lines. It is great for getting out energy and having fun seeing how high they can jump
They took pillows and covered the lines of the “F”. This words on bending over and straightening back up. It is a sneaky way to add working on their core without knowing it.
After they have the letters covered in pillows you can also have them walk on the pillows for a great sensory experience.
They took stuff animals and covered the lines of the “F”. This also works the core. To get the stuff animals cleaned up they can walk the lines and pick them up and throw them back into a container or laundry basket.
They used our pointers to trace the tape line.
There are so many things you can do with a huge tape line. I hope you try your own tape lines.
