Exploring Shadow Painting
For this months Virtual Book Club we read The Foggy, Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt. We loved how the pages looks and how much fun they were.
What you need to make your Shadow Painting
Oil on the Paper
They put baby oil on the copy paper. They each did three sheets. My youngest started the activity and did not want to do the baby oil part. So I did hers. After we got the oil on them I put paper towels between them to dry some of the oil off them. This made the pages semi see through.
Painting the Shadows
Next they painted the fun collection of shadow paintings. Each had unique idea of what they wanted to do.
Here is a look at the final paintings. Each was different and had lots of fun.

These pictures look adorable. We should try shadow painting here too!
Hi Cassie. Thank you so much for sharing today! This is so clever! I adore the book too. Pinned! 🙂
Cassie this is such a lovely idea. Foggy Foggy Forrest is one of R’s favourite books so he will love doing this. I’m featuring this on my Tuesday Tots post tomorrow. Thanks for linking up!
What a fun art idea! I’ve never heard of shadow painting before. Thanks for sharing at After School!
That’s really great art work for kids. I have bought Kid’s art supplies from Jerrysartarama recently, and will make my kid practice this weekend. Thanks
Why did you use the baby oil?
It was to make the pages see through a little bit to match up with the book.
did you use paper or cardstock?
We used regular copy paper for this. I updated the post with links and more information about what we used.
