Another fun sorting activity is with the ocean animals. You can sort them by type. You can talk to kids about the different animals with sharks vs fish.
You can talk about the group of the ocean animals after you are doing sorting them. You could add in ocean books about fish as well.

Letter & Shapes in the Sensory Bin
A fun activity to add into sensory bin is letters, numbers and shapes. You can say a letter and have kids make it form the rocks or ocean animals.
You can give them letter cards or number cards (and these are a fun shark theme) to help as well.
And remember to play!
A final reminder that even if you don’t so anything with the ocean sensory bin but play in it. That is totally okay.
We use ours a lot for calming down and self regulation. And also don’t limit sensory bins to just kids in preschool and prek. Older kids can use them as well.
