April 2015 Book Finds

April was lots of reading for us. There were so many new books to find. I had a hard time limiting myself on the books we really liked. I think I had 25 books in our pile and had to limit myself.

Some of these are book finds from the store and some are from the library. I’m always looking for books we can read. There are always new books coming out. We have fun looking and finding them.

April 2015 Book Finds: Pete the Cat, Birds, counting, shapes, gardens, homes, growing up advice, artists, sleep, - 3Dinosaurs.com

Froodle is a great book about birds different sounds they make and then one day someone says something different. Crow does not like it one bit. Can they get crow to say something silly as well? We loved reading this book and saying all the silly words.

Home is a great book about different kinds of homes. This is a great book to compare the homes that are in it. Plus you could write fun stores about each of them.

There are 3 new Pete the Cat books: Pete the Cat’s Groovy Guide to Life, Pete the Cat: Construction Destruction and Pete the Cat: Rock On, Mom and Dad!. We are always happy to see Pete the Cat Books.

Pete the Cat’s Groovy Guide to Life is filled with lots of great quotes from lots of different people. Plus Pete’s own take on them.

Pete the Cat: Construction Destruction is about having a grand plan and not everything works out how you have it planned. Some times you have to be happy with what you can do.

Pete the Cat: Rock On, Mom and Dad! is about Pete doing something for his mom and dad. There are fun cards and a poster in the book! My girls love having fun things to hang in their room.

Only One You is a book with fun advice for kids at they venture out into the world. I love the pictures and the advice. It will be a fun book we will read often over the next little while.

Have You Seen My Monster? was a new book that came out this month! We really loved his last book Have You Seen My Dragon?. This book is another search and find. You are looking for the monster and this time shapes! I love how much fun these books are to read. This is great for kids learning shapes.

Stone Giant: Michelangelo’s David and How He Came to Be is a great book for learning about Michelangelo’s David. (A fair warning that this book does show the statue as it is at the end of the book.) You learn about how the statue was made and why he made it the way he did. It was an interesting read for sure.

Goodnight Already! is humorous about a bear that ways to go to sleep and neighbor duck who just wants to stay up all night. I love the reactions from bear. I think I’ve had a few of them with my girls going to bed.

Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt is great book for spring. I love that the pictures in the book show under the ground as well. You can see animals and bugs through out the book. It is great for learning about different environments that animals and bugs live in.

Chooky-Doodle-Doo is a great rhyming book about a chick that finds a worm but needs more help. Can they get the worm out with everyone? There is some counting in here as well. We have had fun reading the book.
