Watercolor Ocean Animals Painting
Watercolors have to be one of our favorite types of painting to do. We love painting activities and do them often.
For the summer we pulled out some cookies cutter we have had a while and did an ocean themed cookie color watercolor painting. It is super simple, and we love painting this way.
It is a great way to add to an ocean activity.
Ocean has always been a favorite summer theme for us. We are always doing something with it. And this was an activity my girls asked to do. We read the book Commotion in the Ocean. It is a great book about different ocean animals and loads of fun. We all took turns reading each page.
What you need for this activity:
I have found out the ones you used are not available but any ocean cookie cutter will work.
How to Make the Watercolor Ocean Animal Painting
You pick out the ocean animal you want to use. You hold it on the paper. Then you get the watercolor you want to use and brush inside of the cookie cutter. You hold it in place while painting. It is great for fine motor work. Older kids can use smaller cookies cutters and bigger ones are great for younger kids.
After we had several ocean animals painted we put some eyes on them. It was a great fine motor activity that made the animals stick out a little more.
The final step that we took was the paint the background. It was fun to see how we made the ocean scene come alive at the end. Plus everyone has different ideas and it is fun to see how creative kids can be.
