Using Early Reader Printables: Making Words
BOB Books are a favorite at our house. one of the last sections to learn to use is the “Making Words” printables from the set. I’m going to show you some ways that we use them. I love to make things as much hands on or different as I can.
I wanted to show you a way that we use the printables rather than using as a straight out worksheet. A lot of worksheets can be used more than one way. This is just one way that we use them.
The Making Words printable is a pretty straight forward printable. There is a page with the ABCs on them with a pictures for the code. The matching worksheet has lines with the code underneath it. It is easy to use. One thing I do to not over whelm them is to cute out the lines with the code under them. This lets them work on one word at a time without seeing all the words. This is great for a younger child that is just starting out.
What you need for this activities: make words pages BOB Books Set 1 Book 1 used, stamp pad, abc stamps, ABC Cards
One of the first things we do is pull out one word to work on. She will then find the letters on the ABC sheet and find the letter that makes it when the ABC cards. She builds the word with the cards first.
After she knows the letter we find use the abc stamps to stamp out the word. If you have an older child they could write the letters instead.
After you have finished stamping all the cards have them make fun sentences with the cards and review them as flash cards to see how thay are doing. You can also use them as matching with the cube cards.
