Using Early Reader Printables
We love the Early Reader Books from BOB Books. There is a wide collection of ages for reading and learning. I am now using them for a third time to help my youngest to help her learn to read. I thought this would be a perfect chance to show you how I use some of those early reader printables.
I’m going to start by showing you some activities we use the cube printables for book 1 in Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning Readers. There are so many different ways to use these cards. You can start our really easy and work up to something harder. Everything is hands on with little to no writing for her to do.
What you need for this Early Reader Activity:
- Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning Readers
- cube dice
- cube pages from Early Reader Printables BOB Books Set 1 Book 1
Ways to use the Cube Dice Printables
The first activity we do is a simple match the words. I print one set on cards stock and one on plain paper. You cut out the card stock and leave the plain paper. They take the cut up ones and match them on the paper.
The first thing she does is review the words on the paper. Then she reads the words on the cube. She starts rolling or throwing the die and circling the words that come up. She will do many different circles around the words.
Next she reads through the book using a big eraser flower eraser on a pencil for her pointer. We always start by review the sounds in the book.
The next time through the book we use the cube cards to make the sentences as we read the book.
Then we use the cube cards and some pictures to make our own sentences. She has pictures of her sisters.
I hope you got a few fun ideas. Also don’t forget to check out all the Early Reader Printables that go with the BOB Books Sets 1 through 5.

These are great ideas, Cassie — love how she adds pictures of her sisters to read the sentences again!
I’m glad you like them. We always add family pictures in for making sentences.
I love the idea of adding family pictures too! Adds a little extra fun to reading sentences!
I love adding photos of family or from themed packs as well.
These are a great resource! Thanks for linking up and sharing at The Thoughtful Spot!
