How we made the Torn Paper Valentine Hearts
You are going to see all the steps that we used to make the torn paper hearts.
Pick Your Paper
You are going to start by picking your paper. And this is a great project for deciding how you want your heart to look. You can use any colors of paper you want.
We used scrapbook paper because it is pretty and we have scraps of it left from other projects.
Tear Off Strips of the Paper
You are going to tear off long strips of scrapbook paper. You can this one at a time or all the colors at one time. This is flexible for them.
The strips can be small, big, or any type of tear they want to do.
Put Glue on the Back of the Paper Strips
You put glue on the back of the paper strips. You can use regular glue but we find glue sticks are easier for this type of craft.
Stick the Paper On the Heart
You want to stick the paper strips on the back of the heart template printable. You do this so you can see the heart to cut out later. So you want to make sure the strips are long enough to cover the heart.
Repeat the Process for Each of the Paper Strip
You repeat the process of the paper the gluing until you have all the heart covered. You want each layer to over lap the layer of paper before it.
Let kids be creative about the colors and size of the strips. This is a great way to work in fine motor skills while doing a craft.
Check the Heart is Covered
If you want to make sure the heart is covered you can lift the paper up to a window and see the outline of the heart. You can see the outline below of the heart under the scrapbook paper.
Cut out the Heart
You turn the paper over you can see the heart outline. Then you use scissors to cut out the heart. This is why you have the paper put on the back side of the paper.
You have a clear line of where kids should cut.
You can see the heart and the paper template we used. It is a simple and fun craft.
Valentine’s heart sun catcher craft would also be a great change for to change up this heart as well.
