Great Fine Motor Craft: Torn Paper Nature Scene
We love to build on activities we have done before. We made a wonderful torn paper mountain a few years ago. We had a blast making them.
My girls wanted to do that again. So I said let’s change it up. I’ll tell you 3 things you have to have in your picture and we will see what happens.
This is a great open-ended project for kids to do. There are so many ways.
I love torn paper crafts because no one makes them the same way. And every time is different. As I said we did the mountain one a few years ago and just loved making it. I wanted to repeat but change it up a little bit.
We made out mountain project into more of a nature scene that was fun to make.
I gave them three items they had to make: mountains, trees, and a pond or lake.
What you need for this activity:
PS We have been using the leftover scrapbook paper from with I was attempting to scrapbook!
The first thing we did was make mountains. This is easy to do. You tear the paper to make the mountains. You can tear it small or big. It all depends on how your mountains look. We generally wanted it to cover part of the paper.
We each picked out two colors of papers for our mountains. Then tore away at them.
One we had our mountains just the way we wanted them we glued them down. The mountains did not have to cover up the whole paper.
After we got our mountains done, we were talking about our project and it was stated that maybe we needed some grass areas around our trees. So we did that and added our pine trees.
We tore small strips of green colored paper to make the trees. Then we used some wood grain washi tape for the trunk of the tree.
The final thing we did was make the pond or lake in our picture. We each did our own unique thing with the water and it was fun to see how creative we all could be.
Here is a look at our final project:
