The Children’s Museum in Easton Review
Name: The Children’s Museum in Easton
Website: http://www.childrensmuseumineaston.org
Location: Easton, Massachusetts
Length of stay: 90 minutes
The Children’s Museum in Easton is a great place for the kids to come and be creative. They can try new things and learn about new topics as well.
MAIN FLOOR
The main floor is open with many different activities.
Train and Train Table
The train table was one of the girls’ favorite areas. M. made many loops around the train table. A. loved to play on the big train. R. loved to get tickets to go on the train. They all came back here often while we were there.
Ball ramp
The museum has a fun ball ramp to put golf balls down. A. loved to get several balls to send down and watch them go. M. followed A. up and down to get balls as much as she could. M. even had an easy time getting the ball. R. did it a few times but was more interested in other things.
The Old Fishing Boat
The old fishing boat was lots of fun for the girls. They loved to pull the bucket up and dump the crabs out. They all tried on the life vests, climbed all over the ship, and each took a turn at the steering wheel. A. loved climbing up the rope ladder on the side of the boat. Each looked into the Pirate Den, but only M. went in it. They played with the bucket and crabs a lot.
Space Ship and Command Center
The space area was lots of fun for the girls. They tried on the helmet and sat in the ship. Each took turns flying the ship and pushing the buttons. A. loved the helmet and clothes. M. did like the helmet when she got a chance and then had to sit in the seat with it on. R had it on for a bit but did not enjoy it. They all enjoyed the mission control. R. loved to tell A. and M. what to push buttons. They loved it and counted down for a launch, then pretended to talk to the spaceship. The area was full of lots of changing lights. R had a fun time pointing out the changes in the colors.
Performance Stage and Face Painting area
The stage area was fun. They found the puppets and went right to do a puppet theater and told me to sit down and watch. They did some of the dress up but not for very long. M. walked up and down the stage a lot. M. also liked to sit on the red chairs. A. was the only one brave enough to try the face painting crayons. There is an area to wash it off. The girls did like to watch one little girl paint her face and everything else she could get at.
The Brass Fire Pole
The museum is in an old fire station and they kept the brass fire pole. A. was the only one that wanted to do anything with it. It took some encouragement, but she did it. She went up three times and loved it.
SECOND FLOOR
On the stairs up you can see firefighting pictures and equipment they may have used. This floor has three rooms, each with a different theme.
Dinosaur Den and Prehistoric Pathway
The girls went right for the dinosaurs when they saw them. It was something they know a lot about. R. knew all the dinosaurs and likes the pictures. They loved the hanging puzzles over their heads. The play table is great with nice dinosaurs to play with. A microscope is provided so that you can look at different slides. M. liked to look through at the slides. Each liked to look at the real fossils and track prints. It was fun to see them compare teeth to those on the wall.
Kids Clinic – Doctors office
The girls loved the kid clinic! They went right in and each took to different parts of the room. R. picked up the clipboard and started taking note on her patient: A. A. had to try out all the equipment in the room. M. wanted to look at the baby dolls. A. and M. had fun helping each other in the wheelchair and walker. R. checked all the x-rays to see what they were. It was a blast to watch them run around the room. Something they can’t-do in a real doctors office.
Community Room
R. and M. went right for the old style fire truck. They stayed in there most of the time. A. went right for the kitchen area. They played and put hats on pretended to put out a fire. The did not spend very long in the room as they wanted to see more of the place.
Final Thoughts
One final thing to say it that everything was clean and well taken care of. Overall the girls had a great time and are looking forward to going back! Walking up the main entrance girls were excited to see the outside play area that was currently closed for the winter. Something more for us to do.
