How we made the Flag & Star Watercolor Painting
You can see the steps below that we used to make the flag & star watercolor painting. And while you are doing this watercolor painting remember that you can do this any way you want. It if fun to have different paintings. Plus you can paint each star and flag how they want.
Step 1: Place the Flag & Star Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
You are going to pick out one of the cookie cutters. You can see we are starting with one of the three stars. You place the star where you want to paint.
And remember there is no wrong way to do this watercolor painting.
Step 2: Hold the Flag & Star Cookie Cutter and Paint Inside
You hold the cookie cutter in place. You can hold on the outside of the cookie cutter or on top of the cookie cutter.
Then you use a paint brush that is full of watercolor to paint inside. You want to make sure you cover the whole area. But if they don’t that is okay. Painting inside the cookie cutter is a fun activity for fine motor development.
Step 3: Look the the Star on the Paper
After you are done you are going to look at your painting. You can see the red star on the paper.
If you have older kids you can let them fix stars or flags that are not filled in. But even not perfect that is okay. It will still be their painting.
Step 4: Keep Painting Flag & Star
Next you want to keep painting. You can pick a new cookie cutter or the same one. You place it as above and repeat the same steps.
You can have the stars and flags overlap. You can decorate them. You can do it anyway you want and remind kids that this is their painting. If they only paint stars that is okay. If they only paint flags that is okay.
Each painting will be different and made their own way.
