What is Gross Motor?

It is big movements using parts of the body like arms, legs, and torso. This can include running, jumping, moving arms or legs.

Gross motor can be loads of fun!

Why use gross motor dice?

I like the gross motor dice because it breaks up the routine of doing something. It changes every time you roll the dice.

It also gives kids a chance to have some fun part of seeing what they do next.

Each roll will be different and might change how they do the movements. Plus you can add speed and number to the dice as well.

These are great when you have a short amount of time and want to have fun!

The gross motor dice have two parts the movements and the speed dice. You can use either or both together.

Your movements are rainbow, a pot of gold, clover, horseshoe, footprint, leprechaun.

And the speeds are normal, slow and fast.

How to use the St. Patrick’s Day Gross Motor Dice Inserts

I use the cube dice instead of the folding dice because they are easy to put in and yes kids can do this. The papers last a lot longer.

You can switch them out and mix up gross motor dice sets. There are loads of gross motor dice sets to add!

You can just use the set you have. You can see how easy it is to put the paper in the dice. My girl switch them out all the time.

Another reason that I like the cube dice is that they love to throw the dice in the air. So no one gets hurt and the dice stay together for a lot longer!

How to use the St Patrick’s Day Gross Motor Dice Printable

Before we start any rolling of the dice. I like to start with a review of all the movements. This helps kids know where they need to be and how much space they need.

Plus it helps prevent injuries!

And you never know what changes kids might come up with for the movements!

The St Patrick’s Day Movements

Rainbow You bend over to the side. You can do both sides or just one side at a time for each roll.

A Pot of Gold You stir the pot of gold.

Clover You jump in the air and spread out your arms and legs.

Horseshoe You pretend to throw a horseshoe.

Footprint You stomp footprints on the ground. You can do loud stomps or big huge steps!

Leprechaun You sneak around like a leprechaun.

After they have the movements and you want that challenge then add the speed die. You can also add a number die. You can get the number die here. We have a blast doing this during breaks.
