Snow Day: Hands on Activities
If you have been following me on Instagram you will know that we have been getting TONS of snow and lots of snow days. We have been stuck inside for several days at a time. The snow has been to deep to get out or to cold to play in the snow.
To keep us busy when we can’t always run around outside like we would like. I thought I would share a few lifesavers that we have had for our snow days.
What I like about these is a lot of them are open ended activities and they encourage my girls to think outside of the box some times. How can you make something different this time than you did before. This also keeps them thinking and using their brains.
Keva Structures 200 Plank Set area life saver at our house. I picked them up after we saw them one time. They are an open ended play project. They can be used so many different ways. There is a guide book in with the blocks and you can build those or make your own idea.
Magformers 62 Piece Set are really fun. How tall can you make a tower and how long will it stand. We have been doing lots of different shapes and then putting them together. They have built hats and boats for their stuff animals.
Lauri Tall-Stacker Pegs Building Set are lots of fun to play with. There are so many different ways to build with the different shapes in the set. My girls love to build and then use it for a castle or a dinosaur den.
WEDGiTS are tons of fun to build and create with. They give you square and diamond shapes to make and create with. This is a good thinking outside of the box activity.
Elenco Snap Circuits Lights is great since it has been dark during some of our storms and it gets dark at night earlier as well. This is great to make your design and turn off the lights and see what happens.
Snap Circuits Extreme SC-750 Electronics Discovery Kit is another circuit set that we like. This has so many different ideas and models to build that you can do lots of them over time. The book inside is very nice to help you with the different combinations.
