Sensory Challenge Week 4: Seeing & Hearing
Since spring has started we did some simple Seeing and Hearing Activities for the Sensory Challenge. My oldest can’t handle to many hands on Sensory activities. A lot of the hands on activities I have to provide a second way for her to interact with them. In order to avoid some major problems we did something less hands on for her. Seeing and Hearing is fun and still sensory. I had two cameras with dead batteries this week. Does that ever happen to you?
If you are looking for suggestions check out my 31 Days of Simple Sensory Challenge Post or Royal Baloo’s. There are lots of suggestions and links to ideas!
We started with simply looking for signs of Spring. After so much snow and cold the girls liked being out side. At the start of the week we saw some flowers. We saw the flowers just starting to come up. And then we saw them start to bloom. Even a difference of 2 hours the flowers had bloomed more.
We touched the trees and looked for signs of new leaves or buds. We looked at smooth or fuzzy. We made some guesses flower or leaf. We also talked about the color of the flowers that we might see.
During the week we also have some construction going on outside. The girls watched what was happened and talked about which was more louder when it was digging or moving. We got to talk about what was under the road and the color of the dirt.
We also started to look for birds. During the winter we saw lots of empty nests. We looked to see if birds were around them. We saw many red and blue birds. We talked about the names of the birds. We love hearing the birds. Which was hard with all the construction.
One of our favorite parts of the week is the library trip. They like to look out at the water and see what is different. It was no different this time. We stopped and talked about what the water looked like. We talked about the clouds and tried to pick out what we thought some of them looked like. We also look at clouds that way when driving. It gives the girls something to do.
We also did a Sensory Bin. You can find out about that here: Easter Egg Matching Sensory Bin.
This will be the last sensory post. I’ll update the post for the last two days. Next week starts the post for the new Challenge. Don’t forget to link up any sensory challenge below! The Challenge for next month will be Reading!
