One way we love to use the playdough mats is to fill in the area with loose items. We use the glass gems a lot. It still makes it is a great fine motor activity for kids to do.
I love when kids can pick their own colors for the trace color and write. It is a great way to work their writing and spelling sight words. I love having different sizes of markers
I like when I can reuse a sheet. I put a lot of pages into sheet protectors
