And most important don’t think sensory bins are just for little kids. You can use them for older kids as well.

Sort the Red and Blue Colors

If you are looking for a few activities you can try then sorting colors is a great idea.

You can have them count the gems as they pull them out.

You can make shapes out of the gems. YOu have them clear an area in the middle and then make the shape out of the blue and red.

Ways To Use the Bin with Older Kids

If you have older kids you can use the bin as well. We have used them for sensory fun for years and my girls are teenagers now.

Here are a few other sensory bins ideas:

  • Work on Addition – by scooping up gems and adding the number of blue and red gems you have
  • Work on Subtraction by scooping up gems and then taking away so many gems to make the subtraction problem
  • Scoop gems and do a multiplication problem with red for one number and blue for the other number
  • Make an Array to work on multiplication
  • Make groups of gems for division
  • Make a Flag with the gems

Remember these are just a few ideas and you can use the bin any way you want but this is a great bin for different ages and you can have fun with the red, white and blue theme.
