Hands-On Plank Board ABCs
We have been reviewing a lot of our ABCs.There are many different ways to do this. Lately we have been doings lots of hands on activities with plank boards. They are tons of fun and hands on. Plus it gives you many different ways to think about how you would create an object with the boards.
We have finished up one round through the Romping & Roaring ABCs with my youngest. We are going through again working on harder letters. We did this fun review before we started again. I love this activity because you have to think outside of the normal way of thinking with straight plank boards.
Another fun part is how you use the boards. Do you lay things flat or on their side? She switched this up a few times.
What you need for this activity: Structures 200 Plank Set and ABC Wall Cards.
The first challenge was to pick a letter and make it. This let her choose what letters we were going to do. She could pick uppercase or lowercase based on what she wanted. She created a few letters. She checked the ABC Wall cards and then made the letter.
The second challenge was to do uppercase and lowercase together. You had to see about spacing and make sure your uppercase was bigger than the lowercase. This was fun to see what she created.

Great idea! I will need to find a toy around the house that will work for this. My girl would love it!
We have had so much fun with our plank boards! I’m sure other things could be used as well.
