Penguin Addition Ten Frame Cards
I love having a mix of hands-on and no-prep activities to work on math. I think the Ten frame cards have been one of my favorite addition activities.
They are super easy to use and they build of counting with ten frames.
Today I have some free penguin themed ten frame cards for working on some basic math.
This is a part of the 5 days of penguin printables.
I love having simple and easy to use printable. I also love things that are flexible. And that is what the ten frame cards are.
The set has two types of cards. You have cards with a part of the equations filled out and a card set that has the ten frame blank. This allows you to use a similar printable with different levels of learning.
You can see an example of the cards below.
There is also a matching recording sheet for the cards. It has space for all 12 cards to be used.

Ways to use these Ten Frame Addition Cards
You can use these cards as a math center. You can see below how I like to set up the math center for them to do. I give them matching unifix cubes and crayons. It helps them fill out the ten frames.
These are great hands-on learning for math. I love to use unifix cubes with them. They fit nicely in the frames. You add the second part of the equation for this set.
For the set that is blank I use two unifix cubes. I pick two colors close to the theme and use them to make the equation.
You can see how the two numbers add up. I love that this makes math hands-on for those kids that need it.
If you have laminated thec ards. Don’t forget you can use dry erase markers on them. They are great to fill in part of the equation and then fill in the answers.
If you are only using the cards one time. You can always use dot marker on them.
If you are using the cards and the recording sheet together. Then you can fill out the information on the sheet. I like to give them two colors of crayons for the ten frames.
