Easy To Make: Paper Plate Lion
We have been busy having fun with our zoo themed activities. We all have favorite animals that we just love. One of those animals is the lion!
I’m always looking for fun crafts to do that we can spend time together doing. This is a simple and easy one for kids of all ages to make.
Plus it is fun to see just how everyone can make theirs different.
Lions are one of our favorite animals to see at the zoo! We always stop to see the big animals. One book we read with this craft was about lions. It was National Geographic Readers: Lions. I love this easy reader book series because of the pictures and information in the books.
What You Need For This Craft
How to Make the Craft
We started off using the dot marker on our paper plates. You could paint them with something else if you wanted. We did this first so that the plates would dry fast.
While the paper plate was drying a bit we pulled out the white and black construction paper. We punched a big circle in the white and a smaller circle in the black. These made the eyes.
We then glued the eyes on our plates. Everyone had their own idea of how the eyes should look.
We punched out a small pink circle, glued that one for the nose. We then drew on the mouth after.
Then we tore up yellow scrapbooking paper to make the mane on the lion. This was fun. We all picked different colors of paper to use. We talked about how we would put the paper around the plate and each of us did our own way for it. It was fun to tear and glues the pieces. Plus this was great for building fine motor skills.
Now we needed ears for our lions and we punched a circle out that matched the mane and glued a small pink circle on it. Then we glued them on our plates.
The final step that we did was to add whiskers to our lions.
Here is a look at our final lions!
