If you missed our February’s Virtual Book Club for Kids, March is a great time to join up. This month we are doing Julia Donaldson! She is pretty much a new author to me. We have Room on the Broom but have not read any of her other books. If you have suggestions for me please let me know!

Here are some of the great books you can read by Julia Donaldson. (Or so I have been told by others. I can’t wait to read more!)

  1. We love Julia Donaldson at our house. We love The Gruffalo and Gruffalo Child’s. My sweet 4y daughter picked The Gruffalo book out at the library, and she instantly loved it. She would constantly check it out at the library, so she got it for Christmas. She also has the Gruffalo stuffed animal, the board game, and the video. She even “dressed” up as the Gruffalo for StoryBook time at pre-k. We recently just got the Gruffalo’s Child. She loves that one too! We feel it is a “must” read. It could be a little “scary” for small kids. However, she started loving this book when she was 3. I have a much older child that when she reads it to my 4y, she reads in a different accent each time, so my 4yr has fun with it. I will have to try the other books by Ms. Donaldson.

  2. we love Julia Donaldson. Along with the Gruffalo books, Stick Man and the Smartest Giant in Town are two favorites. For older children she has some chapter books . We read Giant and the Jones and we have Princess Mirabelle on cd and my 5 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son love it.

  3. Ok…I think I’m ready to finally join the virtual book club with this book. Its available at our local library and I added it to my daughter’s Goodreads.com list!
Do you have a Goodreads.com account? I have been using it for myself for years and just started a separate account for my daughter the other to keep track of the books she has read.

But she is only 3 1/2 years old…I wonder if the book it too long for her?

    1. I have not a done a goodreads.com for the girls. I might but I don’t think I’m read to keep up with everything they read.

  4. Ok.. We are going to try this and see how we do this month. I’m not sure if I have read her books. We will be at our local library Tuesday (if weather is good) and we will find some of her books. I will also go through all my books to see if I have any. Looks like fun.

  5. Just found your site today! Is it too late to join? I just went to our local library and check out a few of her book 🙂
