Making Mummies

With all the projects we have done this is one I wanted to be sure and do! It took a while to get to, but here it is: Making Mummies. We did several activities for this but only going to show you what we did most recent! We read the book Mummies Made in Egypt (Reading Rainbow Books). At the end of the book I had them answer questions about what they remembered. Each have some point they really remembered.

What you need for this project: Mummies Made in Egypt (Reading Rainbow Books), cloth cut in stripes, pom poms, toilet paper, beads, and string.

Making Mummies

We made jewelry for our mummies and placed them on soon to be mummies.

Making Mummies

We wrapped out mummies legs and arms and then put their amulets on them.

Then they finished wrapping up their mummies.

Then the girls got a chance to be mummies.

This was fun and educational. Check out other things we did in this Egypt Theme:

  1. what did you use to wrap your girls? That looks like fun and we are about to start Ancient Egyptians.
Is it wrong to be tempted to take them shopping like this so that they don’t fiddle with stuff? Lol.

  2. The bead jewelry is so cute on the stuffed animals. You can tell by the smiles on your girls faces that they had a blast 🙂 I love the last picture of them wrapped up in toilet paper!

Thank you for linking up this week to the Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop! I do hope that you will visit my neck of the magical woods every week and take a quick rest by the tree on the tree stump while you read everyone’s blog posts that they have so thoughtfully shared with all of us.

  3. What a fun idea – I love toilet paper wrapped “mummies”. Sadly, my daughter is terrified of mummies but mildly intrigued by the idea of mummifying peppers. We’ll see if she is interested when we get to Egypt again. Thanks for sharing with Afterschool!
