Hands-On Learning With Skip Counting Fish
I love having different themes to work on skip counting. We are always working on it somewhere. Skip counting is a great way to build up to multiplication and division.
I know that some kids learn better with themes than with just plain worksheets. I changing up learning with these mats to see what they have been learning.
This printable is a part of My Pets Week.
I always hope that something new will helps a child. I know that having a different theme to change things up helps. Plus these have cute fish in the bowls. This is one simple way to change up something they are learning.
Each of the pages has the number you are working on plus skip counting fish in random order. They have skip counting 12 times on each page. I recommend printing on cardstock and laminating this printable to help it last longer.
How we used these printables
If you have a child just starting out with skip counting. Give them the skip counting bookmarks to help them find the number in order. I use the square version and gave them fish counters to cover the fish.
Another way to use these to pull out multiplication cards and have them find the match. I printed my multiplication card and put them mixed up on a ring. They flip through the cards and cover the matching fish.
If you don’t have the fish counters you can always use something else like the clear counters or even a dot marker if you are not reusing the pages.
Another way to use these is to use the skip counting by 1 with division cards. You can always find new ways to use skip counting mats. They are loads of fun for kids of all ages to use.
