How we made the Handprint Watercolor Painting
You can see the steps below that we used to make the Handprint watercolor painting.
Place the Handprint Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
You place the handprint cookie cutter on the watercolor paper. You want to hold the outside of the cookie cutter or the top.
Kids can place this anywhere on the page.
Hold the Handprint Cookie Cutter and Paint Inside
While you are holding the cookie cutter, you use a paint brush and paint inside the cookie cutter.
This is great for fine motor as you are painting and holding the cookie cutter.
Kids can use any color they want when doing their painting. You can always refer back to the crayons.
Look the the Handprint on the Paper
After you are done painting you can look at the hand that you painting. You can see the shape of the hand.
Keep Painting Handprint
Then you just keep painting another handprint. It won’t matter where the next hand is painted. You just pick another color and keep painting.
You can encourage them to paint lots of different colors. It is an amazing picture for kids to see the different handprints together on the paper. You can have the hands overlap or keep them all septate on the paper. Let kids decide how they will do their painting.
You can also flip the cookie cutter over to get right and left hands on the paper.
One thing I love about watercolors is that no hand will look the same every painted with the same color. And it makes the painting look amazing.
