Go, Go, Go, Stop – Traffic Light Fun
Traffic light fun while learning the words stop and go. Explore the book while learning some early reading activities.
We read Go! Go! Go! Stop!. We just LOVED this book. It was fun and a great way to be interactive as well. This is a great way to learn about what stop lights do as well. I love how this books using a lot of words such as stop and go and learning balance between stop and go. This is also a fun way to learn the sight word go and the blend for “st” in stop.
What you need for this activity:
- red and green pom poms
- circle punch, 1.50-Inch
- write words stop and go on the circles
How we did our Stop and Go Activity
We read through the book and then we matched up the stop and go words in the book. We also read through and matched up the red pom poms and green pom poms to the words in the book.
The circle cards with the words were laid out on the table and she matched up the pom poms to the words matching green with go and red with stop.
We made patterns with the words and then matched them up with the pom poms. The patterns we made were Go, Stop – Go, Go, Stop – Stop, Stop, Go, – Go, Go, Stop Stop. She read through her patterns when she were done.
She sorted the words on a piece of paper. She put the pom poms at the stop to reminder her of the words.
Another transportation themed book that we really enjoyed was Zoom! Zoom!. If you want to have fun with poems and making fun sounds then this is for you! We had loads of fun reading the book and making the sounds.

Sounds like such a fun book! Love the activity too!
We love reading the book over and over. It got to the point they loved using the different level of voices for stop and go.
It is cool. My dd likes to build. This is life size too. They are going to come out with fabric to cover the structures.
I absolutely love this idea. The sensory play with the pom poms plus the sight words of ‘stop’ and ‘go’ ! Now that is some serious fun learning!
Looks like a good book to play red light green light with too! Fun!
