What are Fine Motor Skills?

Fine motor skills are activities in which you use the small muscles in your hands and wrists to make precise movements.

This can be tearing paper, playdough, pencil control, coloring with a crayon.

Snowflake Fine Motor Printables

The snowflake fine motor printable works on fine motor with dot markers, tracing and tearing paper with a snowflake theme.

You can see the snowflake dot marker page below. These a great for fine motor with dot markers or hands-on items.

You can see the snowflake tracing printables below. You have two prewriting tracing printables with tracing the outside of the snowflake and inside the snowflake.

You also have a snowflake template for kids to use for crafts and a playdough mat. It is also great for using small items inside of the snowflake.

Ways to Use the Snowflake Fine Motor Printables

You are going to see a few ways to use some of the snowflake fine motor printables.

Snowflake Dot Marker Printable

Cover the Circles on the Dot Marker Snowflake Printable

You can use glass gems or clean counters to fill in the circles of the snowflake. This is a great way to work on fine motor skills with the small items and place them in the circles on the snowflake.

If you plan on using it for a fine motor mat with small items I recommend printing the snowflake on cardstock to help it last longer. And yes you could use color cardstock for the paper as well!

Dot Marker Snowflake Printable

You can also just use the dot marker to do the snowflake. You could use the glass gems first and then dot marker the snowflake. This is a great tot and preschool age fine motor activity.

You can do best for what works best for the kids.

Snowflake Tracing Printables

Both of the tracing printables are shown below with tracing so they can be reused. Please know that you can trace and color with crayons and markers and have loads of fun!

Tracing Inside the Snowflake Printables

The tracing inside the snowflake is great for preschool and prek age kids. You can trace the lines inside that has straight and angled lines for them to track.

You can see that we used a sheet protector and dry erase marker for the tracing. It would be fun to use a blue dry erase marker for the tracing.

You could also print this on blue colored paper! A fun change for kids that don’t always like white paper.

Tracing Outside the Snowflake Printables

The tracing the outside of the snowflake might be more of a challenge for kids. This is an older PreK and kindergarten age fine motor printable.

You can see that we used a sheet protector and dry erase marker for the tracing.

An additional way you could use the outside snowflake tracing page would be to use playdough to line the snowflake.

Snowflake Template Printable

You are going to see just a few ways to use the snowflake template. It is a great open snowflake that allows you to be creative with the fine motor activity.

Small items Inside the Snowflake

You can use any type of small items to fill in the inside of the snowflake. You can see how we used clear counters to fill in the inside.

You could use LEGOs, unifix cube, small counters or any other small items you have.

Snowflake Playdough Mat

You can make the snowflake template into a playdough mat. You can use the playdough inside the snowflake as seen below

Or you could use the outside of the snowflake printable for the playdough mat.

Snowflake Torn Paper Craft

You can also use this template for a snowflake craft. You can tear paper and fill in the snowflake.

It makes a great fine motor craft for kids to do.

You could also print this one colored paper and use white paper to fill in the snowflake.
