Shapes are something we are always working on. My girls love having different activities to do. We have been doing lots of tracing activities for the shapes. There are many different ways to learn about shapes.
These are fun because the shapes overlap and there are many different ways to color them.
You trace the shapes and then color them how you want. Each time you do the coloring you can do it differently. For those working on tracing their shapes, this can be a fun challenge for them.

What Is A Shape?
It is a geometric shape like a circle, square, rectangle, oval, diamond, triangle, star, heart, crescent, hexagon, parallelogram, and octagon. These are just some of the 2D shapes.

Ways to Use the Shape Trace & Color Printable
You can see a few ways we have used the shape trace and color.
Setting up a Shape Tracing Center
A fun activity you can do with the shape trace and color is to add it into a fine motor center. You have lots of lines to trace.
For younger kids you can give them a pencil to trace the lines. You can give them a pencil grip if they have issues holding the pencil. And you might want to use this a few days instead of just one.
For older kids you can have them trace all the lines in a learning center. And then use an option below for coloring.
Trace and Color the Shapes
The shape trace and color is great to trace with a crayon. We used a black crayon and then we colored in the circles. It is fun to see how kids will color the shapes.
Everyone will color theirs differently and it makes a great coloring art work when you are done.
Reuse the Shape Trace and Color
Another great idea it to reuse the shape tracing printables on a learning center. You can laminate the shape tracing page or you can put the page in a sheet protector.
Then you can trace the shapes over and over with dry erase markers. And you can switch out shapes as you need to with a sheet protectors. You could also put all 12 shapes in sheet protectors in a binder.

We have been using these for post-school calm down time. It works great to give them a challenge, and we switch up the items we color them with as well.
You can use crayons for the trace and color.
Another time you could use oil pastels for the tracing and use watercolor to paint the shapes.
There are also fun to trace and color with markers.
