Wall Cards have been a massive part of our learning. The wall cards can be used in many different ways. We have enjoyed having the different types of wall cards for learning to read.

What are CVCE words?

CVCE words are work that has the silent e at the end. I have also heard them called “magic e words”. They are Consonant Vowel Consonant E words.

So that you will find words like mine or hike are CVCe words. The e at the end of the words makes the vowel in the CVCe words a long vowel sound.

These can be tricky to learn but are great for kids to know the trick about the words.

CVCe Word Family Wall Cards

It depends on the learning to read system that you use but after CVC and CVCC words comes CVCe. This is learning about the silent e at the end of some words. These CVCE wall cards help put rhyming CVCe words together for kids to look at. The wall cards have two CVCe words families per page.

We put our wall cards on a tri-fold display board while we are working on that set. I change these are the words we are working on change. It allows for me to have more room on the board.

We really like having the cards on a ring. This makes for a great flip chart for the girls to go through. It is great to introduce a word set or review after they are done. I print the pdf two pages per one page. This allows for smaller cards for smaller hands. I use this laminator and this size of ring.
