What are CVCC words?
CVCC words are words that have a consonant vowel and two consonants. The two consonants at the end are a consonant blend or a digraph. A consonant blend is two letters that make their own sounds but are together and a digraph is two letters that make a sound.
You will find words like fish, ball, dunk, and nest. These are just a few examples. You are going to find that most of these have a short vowel sound.

How to Set Up the CVCC Word Game
Here is a look at setting up the CVCC word game. You can see the clear counters, a die, and one unifix cube. You could use anything for the game token. Seasonal erasers are also fun to use on the CVCC game.
If you need a die you can get one from the number writing dice.
How to Play the CVCC Word Game
If it is the first time playing you can go around the pictures on the outside and say what word they are.
You place your token at the start. It is in the top left-hand corner of the board.
Then you roll the die and move that many spaces around the CVCC board game.
You look at the image and find the CVCC word for the image in the mix of words below. There is one word for each image. Then you cover that image.
You move around the board until you have four words in a row.
Record the CVCC Words You Land On
If you are reusing the CVCC game you can have kids write the words they cover on the writing paper. It is an easy way to see what words they landed on.
