FREE CVC Word Family Wall Cards

These CVC Word Family Wall Cards are very fun to use. One of the first sets of words you start learning to read in kindergarten and first grade. They are three letters together that have simple and easy sounds for a child to sound out.

I made some of these in the BOB Books Rhyming Words Sets and everyone loved them. I thought it would be fun to have a set that matches up with the rest of the CVC Word Family Printables.

What are CVC words?

CVC words are words that have a consonant vowel consonant pattern. They have easy to sound out consonants with a short vowel sound in the middle. They don’t have any tricky blends or digraphs for kids to work around.

They are considered simple words that can be used with early readers to help sound out and decode words.

You are going to find words like cat. Kids can sound out the letters C A & T. And then blend the sounds together to make the word.

Some CVC words that kids learn are bug, map, sat, dog, pot, pan, etc.

CVC Word Family Wall Card Printables

I love that these CVC Word Family Wall Cards allow you to show kids a picture of the CVC word you are working on and matching rhyming words.

These CVC Word Family wall cards are very easy to use. They come 2 cards per page. There is one picture that matches up with each of the words. It is followed by several sets of matching words. There are two columns of words on each card. There can be up to 10 words on each wall card.

Ways to use the CVC Word Family Wall Cards

Prepare the CVC Wall Cards

I like to print these on cardstock and laminate these types of cards so that they last longer. I printed them out and laminated them all. We will display the card we are working on when we need it. Plus if they are laminated they work better for kids to hold and use.

Display the CVC Wall Cards on Tri-fold Boards

These are fun for word walls. We put ours on the tri-fold display board. You can change this up based on what words you are working on. But they also work great just putting them around the room.

You can be flexible in how you display them.

Make CVC Flip Book with the CVC wall Cards

Another way to use these cards is to make a flipbook. I like to print them on white cardstock and laminate the cards and then use a 3 hole punch on each card. Then a put them on rings. You can use this book at any time. Because I laminated it will stand up to little hands flipping through the pages.

Make CVC Book with the CVC Wall Cards

Now if you love the flipbook idea but don’t have to do everything above then here is a suggestion for you! You print the wall cards on regular paper. Then you fold the paper in half. Making sure that the blank side of the paper is on the inside of the fold.

Then you staple the edges of the paper together. I like to put 4 or 5 staples to make sure it will hold well.

Now you have a fun double-sided book with all the wall cards that kids can flip through and use as their own little book. Plus there is no cutting needed at all!
