Flower Paper Plate Wreath: Oil Pastels

Spring is here and flowers are going to be blooming soon. And it is a favorite time for me to walk around and see the flowers.

We thought we decorate the house a little with some fun paper plate flower to help cheer us up at this time.

They are super easy to make and loads of fun.

I love that this wreath goes so great with our other flower activities on the site.

There are so many fun flower books to read. We love Planting a Rainbow and The Flower Alphabet Book . Both show so many wonderful flowers.

I love to see the colors and how different each flower can be.

What you need for the Flower Themed Paper Plate Wreath

We made a punch template to see how far on the paper we would need to color. I love using these to help us out. we have several flower punches so I pulled out some of them. If you don’t have a punch use flower cookie cutters and then just cut out the flowers.

How we made our Flower Themed Paper Plate Wreath

We start out by coloring our paper plates. We use dot marker for this. They are simple and easy to use on the plates. You can always use crayons or markers to color the plates as well.

Then we colored the white cardstock with oil pastels. This is fun because you can blend the colors or really do any color you want.

Then you take the punch you want and line up the paper in the punch and then push hard to punch out the flower.

You can see the punched out flower and the paper. This is a fun way to have every flower different.

You repeat those steps until you have all the colors and sizes of flowers you want. This is always decided by what they want to put on the wreath.

Finally, you glue on the flower on the wreath. You can arrange them how you want. One way you have done it is to lay the flowers on the wreath first and then glue each flower in place.
