Flowers are a favorite theme and I love that spring has so many fun flower. Today I have a fun set of printables to work subtraction for kids this spring.

The free flower subtraction task cards are an easy set of cards for kids to work on learning subtraction. It has two levels of learning to help kids do the same activity but at different levels of learning.

The flower subtraction task cards are meant to be a fun learning center that kids can do this spring. I always have more requests for subtraction. For me, doing addition was always easy and subtraction was always harder. And I want to have fun with learning and it is why I created this set.

The cards include two levels so learning. It allows kids to learn to cross off to match the equation or see the items crossed off already.

It has two types of cards. Each of the cards has the equation at the top with matching flowers. One has the “x” on the flower to match the equation and one does not. I recommend laminating the cards so that they last longer.

There is a recording sheet. It has space for answering all 12 cards plus a number line at the bottom. I like having the number line to help those that might need the little bit of extra help.

How we use this printable

You are starting off with using the cards with the x’s on the flowers. The equations match the flowers and the x’s. This allows kids to see how the equations should be. If you have the cards laminated kids can write the answer on the cards.

If you have kids that are better at subtraction, have them start with the cards that have flowers that match the equation but don’t have an x’s on them. If you have laminated the cards it allows the kids to cross off the flowers on their own. They can write the answer and cross off the flowers.

If you want to do the cards first and then fill out the sheet you can. I like to do the two together. This allows them to see the cards and write the equation and answer on their own.
