Flower Digraph Sorting & Worksheets
I have always been a big seasonal activities person and so are my kids. Flowers have always been one of my favorite spring themes! We do so much with them every year.
I know that a lot of the common digraphs that kids start learning are ch, sh, th and wh. So today I have something fun to help with those beginning digraphs.
This is a fun free flower digraph sorting and worksheet activity for kids.
You can check out more flower activities here.
I picked some of the beginning digraphs of ch-, sh-, th-, and wh- to use for this activity. This is the set that most kindergarten age kids learn first.
There are 4 matching cards for each flower pot. There is a picture on the flower to help them say the word and sort to the correct pot.
There are 4 pots that have the digraph starts on them. You can see the digraphs on the bottom of the pot that makes it easy for kids to know where it should go.
There is also a recording worksheet to go with the cards. It has space for the four words for each digraph. Each of the pages focuses on one digraph beginning.
Here is a look at all the cards and pots together.
How we use this printable
The most basic way to use these cards to match them to the correct beginning digraph pot. You can sort out all the cards. The kids can say the words and see which they think fits best. All of the cards are beginning sounds which makes it easier.
If you want you can do a matching game with the cards. Kids can match the beginning digraph sound cards. It makes a fun game. You can use all 16 cards or just use two of each. They will have two cards to match for each beginning sound.
After kids have sorted the cards they can do some writing. There is the option of tracing the words. This is great for those kids that might need a little extra help.
There is also a set of pages that have the option for kids to write in the words. It is great for those older kids who are better and writing words. These two pages allow kids at different levels to work together.
If you are looking for more digraph activities you can check out the Digraph coloring pages. These go great with this set. It is an easy no-prep printable that kids can learn with.
