Fall Tree Watercolor and Q-Tip Painting
Fall happens to be a favorite theme for us! We have loved doing different fall activities over the years!
And we have just loved fall tree activities. We do at least one or two every year! And it is fun to do them.
Plus there are so many great fall books to go with the activities as well.
We have included links to some of the products and resources we have used with this activity. If you purchase via the links we may earn a small commission.
This is a fun addition to the fall activities on the site!
Fall and the changing of the leaves is a favorite for us. We are always looking outside to see how the leaves have changed. And we have done several fall trees over the years. I love doing them and it is fun to see new ways we can do something.
The book Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf has been a favorite for years! We read it every year. I love the pictures and learning about fall leaves.
It is also fun to read the book: Why Do Leaves Change Color? (Let’s-Read-and-Find-Out Science 2). You can always add in science while doing art!
I always have fun mixing up art projects. And today we mixed watercolor painting and painting with q-tips! It is loads of fun to do. Plus it makes a great art project
What you need for the Fall Tree Watercolor & Q-tip Painting
How to make the Fall Tree Watercolor & Q-tip Painting
You can start by painting water on the watercolor paper. Help helps the watercolor spread on the paper. When painting the whole area we use a big paintbrush.
Then we started on painting the grass green. The water on the paper helps the watercolor spread easily.
After that, we did a blue sky. We mixed two of the blues together to make our sky and with the extra water on the paper, it is easy to mix the colors.
We put the paint in the try and then started on the tree.
We used q-tip for the tree. We started with the trunk of the tree. We did long strokes to make it.
Then we started on the tree using red, yellow, and orange paints. We mixed the three paints around the tree to make the leaves.
You can also add leaves down below or any other item you can think of. It is fun to mix of the different types of painting.
