How We Made the Deer In Winter Watercolor Painting
You will see all the steps to make the deer in winter painting.
Paint the Sky Blue
You use the watercolors and paint the sky blue. You can use a small brush but we have found that a bigger brush is easier to paint bigger areas.
You can start with a line between the snow and the sky.
If you have younger kids you can draw a line on the paper for where the sky and snow meet.
You can see how the sky looks after it has been painted. You have a clear sky and snow line.
Painting the Black Trees
Now you want to paint the trunks of the trees. You use black watercolor paint and you paint the long sticks on the page. They go from the snow area to the top of the page or maybe the middle of the page.
These trees can be any size that kids want to make them.
After painting the trunks of the trees, then you add some branches on each tree. This is simple to do and just adding smaller lines on the tree trunks.
These lines can be simple for younger kids and more complex for older kids.
Place the Deer Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
Next we are painting the deer and we start with placing the deer on the painting. You can place the deer where you want on the painting.
It should be standing on the snow is really about the only thing to tell kids.
Hold the Deer Cookie Cutter and Paint Inside
You want to hold on the outside of the cookie cutter or on top of the cookie cutter.
Then you use black paint and paint inside the deer cookie cutter.
You want to make sure to paint all around on the inside.
For older kids they can touch up the deer after they lift off the cookie cutter.
