CVC Words By Beginning Sound Bookmarks

After kids have learned their letter sounds we start with building words. There are so many different ways to do this. The most basic words that we start with are CVC words.

Each of these words has a short vowel sound. They are words like bat, bin, kit, zap, and new. Each of them is just three letters long.

You can work on these types of words by word family or change it up and keep the same beginning sound but change the middle and ending sounds.

Today I have a fun CVC word printable that is all sorted by CVC beginning sounds.

These new CVC Beginning Sound Bookmarks are a change up from the CVC Word Family Bookmarks. They all have the words sorted by word family and in alphabetical order.

I printed the bookmarks on a stardust white cardstock.

This make these had a little extra color. These would also be great to print each letter on a different colored cardstock.

Ways to use the CVC Beginning Sound Bookmarks

Each of the bookmarks is like a word bump in that each word changes the ending sound or vowel and ending sound.

So you can go from the word hop to hot or mop to mud. These make a great way to just read through the different words and see how they change.

I wanted to add something different and fun to these new bookmarks. I added some CVC Ladders for these cards. At the top is the letter you are working on. Plus at least one example of a CVC that begins with that sound.

Each of the ladders had the beginning sound and the vowels a, e i, o, u. This allows you to build the words from the bookmarks.
