Cutting with Mittens – Three Little Kittens
This month was a hard one to pick books for the Virtual Book Club. Paul Galdone has some fun books. We finally settled on Three Little Kittens (Folk Tale Classics). We have others of his in the house but they had not heard this story yet. I love when I get to show them a new story. This was fun to watch the kittens with their mittens. My youngest just loved the story. There is lots of rhyming in the story while makes it fun to point out the rhyming words.
What you need for this activity: mittens, Melissa & Doug Cutting Food and Cutting Fruit Crate.
Mary put on her mittens and got ready to try some cutting and pretend eating.
First we did some cutting. We found that some things were easier to cut if they were flat and not round. It was harder to old the round items in her hand. She had so much fun and keep trying to matter how hard it was. She did get a little upset at the egg, but did manage to do it after working on it for about 3 minutes.
After she got done we did some pretend eating with the mittens and we talked about if it was easy or hard to eat with mittens. She said it was hard.
I love watching her cut the food with the mittens and adjust who she did the activity because mittens made it different for her. Have you ever done an activity like this?
Now there are several books by Paul Galdone that I have printables that match up, here are some of them:
