We are making a simple cherry blossom wreath that kids can make. It is simple to make with easy steps and loads of fun for kids.

Spring Books to Read with this Cherry Blossom Wreath Craft

When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes. It is a great spring and Easter book you can read and see different parts of spring.

And Then It’s Spring by Julie Fogliano is another great book with showing how spring starts below the group and sprouts up in flowers and leaves on trees.

What we used to make the Spring Blossom Wreath

• paper plate with center cut out (save the center)
• flower cherry shape craft punch
• pink glitter paper
• watercolors
• glue

How We Made the Spring Cherry Blossom Wreath

You can see the steps below that we used to make the spring cherry blossom wreath

Watercolor Paper the Plate Plate

You start by painting the paper plate with watercolors. You want light blues for the colors. You can mix colors if you have more than one blue color.

If you have one blue color, use the blue you have.

Another alternative to watercolors is to use dot markers. They have several blue colors.

As you paint, the blue colors can be light and dark is different areas. But you want to make sure you paint the whole wreath.

You can also use the center of the plate for older kids to keep from painting the table.

You can let the painted paper plate dry for a few minutes.

Punch out the Cherry Blossoms

You can start punching out the cherry blossoms while the wreath dries. You can see how easy it is to push the punch and make the flowers.

There are three sizes that you can use. It will add depth and distance for the flowers on the wreath.

Paint the Branches of the Tree

Nex you want to paint the branches of the trees. You can do as many branches as you want. And let kids be creative in how they paint the branches.

We used a dark brown for the color and you could black as well. You can give kids the options.

Paint the Limbs on the Branches

You can add a few smaller limbls on the branches that you can use to for the flowers. And let kids decide how many limbs they will add.

Glue the Cherry Blossoms on the Wreath

The final step is gluing on the cherry blossoms. You can let kids decide how many they put on. If they put on one. That is great. This is about their artwork not how you think it should look.
