How we made the Butterfly Watercolor Painting
You can see the steps below that we used to make the Butterfly watercolor painting.
Step 1: Place the Butterfly Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
You want to place the cookie cutter on the watercolor paper. It does not matter where on the paper you place the butterfly cookie cutter.
You old the cookie cutter on the outside or on top. You can also do a mix of on top or on the sides if that works best.
Step 2: Hold the Butterfly Cookie Cutter and Paint Inside
You paint inside the butterfly cookie cutter while holding it steady. You can use any color you want. And kids might have a favorite color they want to use as well.
You want to make sure while you are painting inside the cookie cutter that you fill in the whole cookie cutter or at least most of the cookie cutter.
Step 3: Look the the Butterfly on the Paper
You lift off the cookie cutter and then you look at your butterfly.
For younger kids you can leave the butterfly as is. You can have older kids fix or add more to the butterfly if they want. After all this is their painting.
Step 4: Keep Painting Butterfly
After you have one butterfly you can pick another spot and paint a different butterfly. You can use any color you want and make it pretty. But kids can use the colors they want. And yes a black butterfly would be okay.
And keep going with the painting of butterflies. The butterflies can overlap or not touch at all. Let kids decide how their butterflies should look. You can see we added several to our painting.
