Bat Themed Rhyming Matching: CVC, CVCC, & CVCe

Rhyming words can be so had to teach. But having fun printables to help with rhyming can help make it easier.

You have three types of rhyming words CVC words, CVCe words, and CVCC words. Each set is to help work on rhyming with matching bat cards with a recording sheet to go with the cards.

What are Rhyming Words?

A rhyming word is a repetition of similar sounds.

So rhyming words are words that have the same ending sound. So you will find words like cat and bat rhyming. But you can also find that cheese and peas also.

The bat themed rhyming matching printable works on three different types of rhyming words you have CVC, CVCC and CVCe rhyming words.

Rhyming Bat Puzzles

You have matching cards with two piece puzzles. You have a set of CVC, CVCC and CVCe. Each has a mix of vowels for each set.
You have a bat with a picture on each wing that rhymes. And yes each of the pictures on the bat is in black and white.

Rhyming Bat Worksheet

Then you have a rhyming recording set. These bat themed rhyming worksheets work with the cards or without the cards.

You have a word to trace and a rhyming word to write.

You are going to find the following rhymes:

CVC Rhyming Word:

The CVC Rhyming Bats are: bat & cat, tag & bag, red & bed, pen & hen, win & fin, lip & zip, log & dog, cop & mop, and rug & mug.

CVCC Rhyming Word:

The CVCC Rhyming Bats are: back & tack, call & ball, bell & well, bend & send, gill & hill, ring & king, sock & lock, buck & duck, hung & lung.

CVCe Rhyming Word:

The CVCe Rhyming Bats are: bake & cake, late & gate, save & gave, bike & hike, hide & ride, cone & bone, home & dome, hose & rose, cube & tube.

Ways to Use the Bat Themed Rhyming Matching: CVC, CVCC, & CVCe Printable

You are going to see a few ways to use the bat rhyming cards and bat rhyming worksheet.

Rhyming Matching Game with Cards

You can set up of rhyming matching game for kids. You cut the bats in half for the puzzles. You can see there are 9 pieces on each side.

You have them match the bats that have pictures that rhyme.

You might have them say bell and well rhyme as they match the cards.

Bat Cards Together with Rhyming Worksheet

You don’t have to cut the bat puzzles apart. You can keep them together and use them as a learning part with the worksheet. This is a great way to start working on rhyming words.

You can see the bat and the cat. You have the bat to trace and then they know the rhyming sound that is the same with at. Then they write the matching rhyming word below of cat.

Rhyming Worksheet Only

You can just use the rhyming worksheets only. Each worksheet has a word to trace and then write the rhyming word below it. It is a simple way to see if they know rhyming words.

You can see that we put the page in a sheet protector so that we can use it over and over.

They can come up with rhyming words that are not the bat rhyming puzzles. Let them see if they can do it. Each of the three areas of rhyming work great for this.

Rhyming Cards on Rings for Matching

A fun way to mix up all the rhyming bats is to put them on rings. Kids can flip through the bats and find the words that rhyme.

They can just say the words or they could use the Halloween writing paper and write the words down.
