August 2014 Book Finds

August was a month of getting back to normal. We made trips to the book stores and libraries and we loved it! Nothing like having a few things normal, like finding new books to read! It was fun to read all the different books. There are several new books and some old books as well. You never know what you will find when you go looking!

Book Finds August 2014: Pete the Cat, ABCs, Books, Mermaids, School - 3Dinosaurs.com

Now to get on to the books for August! Did you have a book you found that you liked? If so let me know! I’m always looking for more books to read.

If you had not guessed by now we LOVE Pete the Cat at our house. The newest book is Pete the Cat and the New Guy. This book is about a new guy who moves in.and Pete can’t wait to meet him. But the new guys is not what Pete thought. It is a great book about learning how different people can get along together. I love how it all works out and everything is cool.

Books Always Everywhere is a great book about describing books. This is a great book to read with kids and have them say book and you say the second part. How many different ways can you describe books? How many examples can you find from the book at your house. Some great words are bin, small, hat, share, start and stop from the book.

R Is for Robot: A Noisy Alphabet is a great ABC for making noise! This whole book is the ABC of noise and it is fun to say the words and have kids repeat them after you! We read this book several times and enjoy it each time. It is fun to read it with small voices and loud voices and deciding what type of noise level each word should make.

Hickory Dickory Dog is a fun rhyming story about going to school. I loved this play on the classic! Follow the fun story through the day. We have loved reading this book. This was a library find for us.

The Mermaid and the Shoe was a fun library find for us. Triton has 50 daughters and each has a talent but Minnow does not have some of the talents her sisters have. She finds a red shoe and wonders what it is. She goes asking many creatures about the shoe until she finds her answer and then rushes home to tell everyone. This is a good about about remembering that not everyone can be the same and exploring and learning can be fun.

I Didn’t Do My Homework Because… (Hardback) – Common is a great book. How many different ways can you come up with that you did not do your homework. As my oldest entered third grade homework is a part of life. This was a great book to read before school starts or when it gets close to when homework time starts. It is lots of fun to read!
