Are You Ready to Play Outside – Making Rain Drops
We have joined the Virtual Summer Reading Program.. June’s author is Mo Willems.
We read the book Are You Ready to Play Outside? (An Elephant and Piggie Book) (An Elephant and Piggie Book (7)). The girls loved the book.
We read and acted out many parts: running, jumping, and skipping. Then we talked about playing in the rain, but it was a wonderful day outside so we talked about painting our own rain instead.
What you need: paper, 2 types of blue paint, paint holder and comb.
How to the Rain Drops
The girls took the pencils using the eraser side and dotted paint on the paper. Amelia and Mary took both pencils and went after doing their projects. Rose was very careful and did one pencil print at a time.
After they got the paint on the paper, the girls took a comb and brushed up the paper to make the rain drops.
Then we hung up our papers so it looked like rain on the wall.
Here are some other Mo Willems books we read and liked this month:

This is one of our favorite Elephant and Piggie books! I love the artwork that your little ones made! 🙂
Thanks they really did enjoy making it.
Creating texture in the paint with the comb is a great idea!
It was a nice way to make the rain look like it was falling.
My boys love to paint and I’m always on the lookout for a new painting tool. These are great ideas!
Glad that you like it.
What a lovely craft! It looks so cool!
I would love for you to link this post to Read.Explore.Learn on my blog!
This is so cute and easy. It’s just perfect timing that I found it, we’re doing a weather study at the moment. 🙂
Glad you like it! It was fun to make rain when we had none. 🙂
