Apple Themed Counting Mats: Number 1 to 10

After we had so much fun with the Ocean mats, I got asked for several more of them. So I’ll be updating a few seasonal versions over the next year. We are starting with an apple-themed set for fall.

These are great hands-on learning for kids. You can do the counting with the ten frames and then place apples or other items on the trees.

This is a great addition to our apple printables on the site.

I love the idea of these mats. You can use almost anything when you are counting on these. We have some Apple table scatters that we have had for years that I love using. Plus I love the pony beads for getting some pincher grasp work.

Each of the mats has a ten frame box, the number word, and number digit that you can use for playdough if you want.

Here is a look at how I set up the mats to be used. It is fun to use and kids have tons of fun cycling through the different mats. We used the red, yellow, and green pony beads with some apples we got at Michael’s a few years ago. I have not seen the apples since then! But you can use glass gems in place of the apples.

• playdough
• clear counting chips

Plus these mats work great with the Apple Daily Number Printables. You can use 1 to 10 with these. You can do hands-on work and then the no-prep printables in the set.
