Apples are a huge fall theme at our house. We do almost two weeks of fun activities with them. We end our apple season about the time of Johnny Appleseed’s birthday, September 26!

We have love doing the cookie cutter painting. This allows different ages to do the same activity together. This is also something that is totally up to my girls how they paint the apples. My youngest picked out the colors of apples she wanted to paint. She decided every part of the activity.

Before we started the activity we talked about what color of apples she remembered from the book. You can also get an apple for them to look at as well.
Hold the Apple Cookie Cutter
You have to hold the cookie cutter in place with one hand. You can hold the sides or on top of the cookie cutter. You can do which every works best for your kids.
Paint inside the Cookie Cutter
Painting with the cookie cutter is really use and fun. You fill in the color with the brush. The paint inside the cookie cutter while holding it in place. This is great for fine motor.
Lift Up And Look at the Apple
After you finish painting you want to lift up the apple cookie cutter and look at the apple you painted. You can see how fun it is. And if the apple is not perfect that is okay!
Keep Painting Apples
You want to keep painting apples. You can paint red, yellow, and green. But if kids decide to use other colors that is okay as well. This is their apple painting.
The apples can over lap or not. You can paint the stem and leaves different colors from the apple. All great ideas and leave that up to kids.
You can also paint the apples in more than on color.
