Ant Theme Gross Motor Dice
I have always loved doing gross motor activities.
And I love changing things up when I can. We loved the bug gross motor dice. It is always fun to have themed activities that work so well.
And we had fun with the ant card in it and I thought it was time to change things up a bit. So we have a free ant themed gross motor dice for kids to do!
You can have fun changing up the gross motor with this simple ant themed dice activity. We took the fun marching movement and changed it up!
Plus with the gross motor dice cube dice, you can change up all sorts of activities!
The dice has six fun movements slow, fast, high knees, forward, backward, and sideways. These movements are a great cardio activity for kids to do.
This set does not have a speed dice since some of the movements have speed activities. But if you want to add a speed dice you could add one from the bug gross motor set.
Things to use with the And Themed Gross Motor
- printer
- white cardstock
- scissors
- cube dice
- Number Dice
- tape
- craft stick
- black sharpie pen
- kinetic sand
- ants
- bin
I have found that cube dice inserts last longer and that is why I show them the most.
They are easy to put in and take out the dice. Plus allows you to change them and mix up the different gross motor sets.
The folding dice set you cut and fold on the lines and then tape or glue it together. I found tape helps it stick together better. You can see the two dice side by side.
Ways to use the Ant Themed Gross Motor Dice
The six movements in the set are a great way to work on cardio without kids knowing that is what you are doing. The movements are simple but have slight changes.
I always review the movements before we do the activity. This allows me to see if they know what each movement is and how to do it.
This is one gross motor dice activity you want to make sure of space because you are moving in different directions.
Forward: You march forward like an ant.
Backward: You march backward like an ant. You want to make sure there is space behind you to go backward.
Sideways: You march to the and travel in a line to the right or the left but always facing the same direction.
High Knees: You march bring your knees as high into the air as you can.
Slow: You march as slows as you can bring you knees up. I try and have them see if they can take 5 seconds to do each march.
Fast: You march as fast as you can while bringing up your knees.
After you are sure of the movements you can change up the dice a bit. You can add how many times they do the movement. You can get the number dice here. We picked higher numbers for the movements to get more cardio into our workout. The number dice have cube inserts and folding options as well.
Another ways to use the Ant Themed Gross Motor Dice Activity
While they were having fun doing the dice activity I prepared another way to do the activity. I had an extra set of gross motor dice cards printed and cut out.
I taped a craft stick to the back of the card.
Then I wrote on the front of the craft stick a number at the bottom with a black sharpie pen. The number on the stick tells them how many times they do an activity.
Then I took out the stuff to make the Ant Sensory Bin again. We often revisit sensory bins that we love. I think stuck the gross motor card in an anthill in the bin!
Then she got to pull the ant gross motor card out and see how many times she did the activity. it was a fun twist on the activity. PS you can put them in a jar or other containers. Any way to pull the cards would work.
