A Simple Request
On our weekly trip to the library the girls saw a mommy duck and six ducklings swimming away. They were so excited about it. We went into the library and then came out. We sat on a bench and watched the pond. The girls were so excited by every simple little bird sound they heard.
We saw a swan swimming way out. Rose was so excited.
Amelia saw several ants and we watched a bee flying around flowers.
We watched the area for 20 minutes waiting to see something else. Then Rose asked if we could go see the pond we looked at last year. I said sure we could go.
Everyone got into the car quickly and we left for the pond. They were excited and Rose hoped we would see ducks and fish. As we pulled up to the area we saw four ducks right away.
The girls hopped right out to see them. The ducks were good and floated right in the area close by.
Fifteen minutes went by and they just watched the ducks. We talked about the colors that we saw on the ducks. I asked if they thought they were male or female ducks. Rose said male and Amelia said female. I pointed out that males have the green color while females are just brown.
We crossed the road to the other side and right away saw 2 ducklings swimming away. The girls liked the ripples it made in the pond.
We watched the other side and we looked back to the other pond and saw the ducks starting to cross the road. When they got close to the water they flew. It was a very exciting moment for them.
It was amazing how much this simple request meant to them. They will talk about it for days and enjoy telling the stories and drawing pictures. Some times taking the few minutes to make them happy just brings a smile to my face and theirs.
