Footprint Art: Dinosaur Track Wave
Footprint activities can be loads of fun. And kids can enjoy doing them. Plus this is a really fun activity to do for dinosaurs!
You can work on learning about how different footprints can be done by similar feet.
Recently the girls went to Dinosaur State Park and saw dinosaur foot prints.
As a follow up we made our own track wave at home. It was super simple and easy to do! It is a mix of craft and gross motor at the same time.
What we used for the track wave activity:
- roll of craft paper
- masking tape
- black paint
- 2 paper plates
- news paper
- feet
We used the masking tape to hold the paper in place!
How we did this dinosaur footprint activity
I had them put a foot on each plate. Two plates made it easier for them to get the paint all over their feet.
My oldest walked across the paper. We looked and talked about her prints on the paper.
My middle walked across. We looked at how different and similar the two tracks on the paper were.
My oldest walked back on tiptoes. This was to simulate the dinosaurs running across in the water.
My middle walked back on tip toes.
Both had a great time doing this. After the feet were cleaned up we looked at our track wave. We talked about the difference we saw between just walking and walking on tiptoes.
You can also talk about sizes of the prints with different sizez of feet.
A fun activity I can see us doing again!
