How we made the Turkey Painting
You can see the steps below that we used to make the turkey painting. Before starting you might want to check how flat your turkey cookie cutters lay. It helps with the painting.
Step 1: Place the Turkey Cookie Cutter on the Watercolor Paper
You are going to place the turkey cookie cutter on the watercolor paper. It won’t matter where you place the cookie cutter. It just needs to be on the paper.
Step 2: Hold the Turkey Cookie Cutter and Paint Inside
You are going to hold the cookie cutter on the outside or the top. It depends on the skill level to which they will do. Then you pick a color and use a large paint brush tp paint inside the cookie cutter.
You are going to want to try and get all the little corners of the cookie cutter. And this can be a challenge.
Step 3: Look the the Turkey on the Paper
Next you are going to lift off the cookie cutter and look at see it on the paper. You can see it is the shape of the cookie cutter. And it is not perfect that is okay. That makes it different. You can have older kids touch up the painting.
Step 4: Keep Painting Turkeys
Finally keep painting turkeys. We uses two cookie cutters for this painting. And you can be as creative as you want with them. And the cookie cutters can overlap a little bit.
You can see that you can add more colors as you do. There are lots of different brown colors but if kids paint other colors that is okay. We recently saw a wild turkey that had some white color on it. It was fun for kids to see.
Let kids be creative with this turkey. If the turkey is upside down that is okay. They are having fun painting and that is what matters.
