Free Pirate ABC Tracing Strip Printables
Working on handwriting is something you can do all year. And changing up how you do it can make it fun.
You can add different themes like these fun free pirate letter tracing strips. They have uppercase and lowercase letters for kids to trace.
You can use all 26 letters of the alphabet or work on the letters you are learning.

Pirate ABC Tracing Strip Printables
The pirate ABC tracing strips have an example of how to trace the letters and then several letters to trace. You are going to find different pirates on the strips.
These are great for handwriting in PreK (ages 4 to 5) and Kindergarten (ages 5 to 6). You can use just the letters you are looking for or the whole set.
It is recommend that you print the letter tracing strips on cardstock and laminating them.
You can see an example of the tracing strips below. You can see the uppercase and lowercase letters on the strip with the example and the ones to trace with the pirates.

Things to use with the Pirate ABC Tracing Strips Printable
- printer
- white cardstock
- laminator – this is similar to what I use and love!
- laminating pouches
- q-tip
- dry erase markers
- rings
Ways to Use the Pirate ABC Tracing Strips Printable
You will see a few ways to use these tracing strips. They are great for kids at different levels.
Laminating the Pirate ABC Tracing Strips
You can laminate the pirate letter tracing strips. You can laminate and then cut the strips out. Or you can cut and then laminate.
You can see that we laminate and then cut out.
Storing the Pirate ABC Tracing Strips
After you have all the pirate letter tracing strips cut out, you can then place them on a ring to store all the letters together.
We use a 1 inch ring to store them together.
Setting up a Pirate ABC Letter Tracing Centers
You can put all the letters in a tracing center. But younger kids don’t always trace lots of letter at the same time.
You can just give them one letter to trace. A great way to focus where you want to.
Some letter tracing center ideas are:
– Pirate words
– Letters of their name
– Sight words
– CVC words
– Vocab
– Letter of the Day
Tracing the Letters
You can see below that we have used a dry erase marker to trace the letters. You can trace just to letter or you can also trace the example of how to write the letters below.
You can see that traced the example and the letters on the strip.
Cleaning Off Dry Erase Marker with Q-Tip
Now if you want to add some extra fun fine motor, challenge kids to wipe off the dry erase marker with a q-tip. This works on fine motor and is great for kids.
Now this is best done right after they trace the letters. You can do it later but some times the dry erase does not always come off at easy.
