Hands-On Learning with Ocean Multiplication Puzzle Printable
The ocean is a favorite theme, and putting that with multiplication makes learning fun for the summer.
Today we have a totally fun hands-on ocean puzzle to work on division. These are great for kids that prefer to work on something other than flashcards.
I know some kids need something fun and different to learn and review, which is why these are fun ways to work on multiplication.
The Ocean Multiplication Puzzle Printables are a great addition to the ocean printables and multiplication printables on the site.
What is Multiplication?
Multiplication is one of the basic math operations that kids learn.
Multiplication is the addition of equal groups together. So you would be adding groups of 2 together.
You multiply these numbers together to get an answer.
An example is 2 x 3 = 2 + 2 + 2 = 6
Ocean Multiplication Puzzle Printables
The ocean multiplication puzzles work on multiplication from 1 to 12. You have an ocean puzzle for each number.
The ocean multiplication puzzle pieces have numbers on each puzzle that match the puzzle mat that has the 12 equations.
They are perfect for kids who love hands-on learning.
The Ocean Multiplication puzzles are great for kids in third grade ages 8 to 9 and fourth grade ages 9 to 10. Or kids who just need a fun review as well.

Ways to Use the Ocean Multiplication Puzzle Printable
You are going to want to use the puzzle for the multiplication fact you are learning. It is a great way to change up flashcards for kids who don’t do well with multiplication flashcards.
Laminate the Ocean Multiplication Puzzles
You want to print the puzzles on cardstock and laminate them. Laminating helps make sure the puzzle can be use several times.
I Would suggest cutting out the puzzles with scissors to avoid the lamination from coming off the paper.
Preparing the Multiplication Puzzle Mat
After you have laminated the ocean puzzle mats. You want to prepare them. And I see a lot of people use Velcro for matching the puzzles pieces. I’ve never been a fan a velcro because it can get expensive.
We use use wall putty. This is the putting that people use the hang posters on the wall. I use scissors and cut off a small strip and then cut in to little pieces and put on the corners of the mat.
It is quiet and once you are done you can take the putty off and use it on something different.
Setting up a Multiplication Puzzle Center
After you have the puzzle and mat prepared you can then use it in a multiplication center. You get them a multiplication puzzle mat and the puzzle pieces. You can see a simple set up below.
If they might need some help you can add the multiplication bookmarks to the center.
Then you just start matching the multiplication answers for the puzzle mat!
A Fun Ocean Multiplication Puzzle Center with Sensory Bin
A great way to change things up is to add a sensory bin to the mix. You can see below we put the multiplication puzzle pieces in a sensory bin with ocean animals, blue rocks and rice. It is super simple to set up. And something different for kids.
They pull a ocean multiplication puzzle piece out of the bin. They can see the number in the corner. Then they match the number on the puzzle mat. A great math fact center a little fun.
After they finish the puzzle they can put the pieces back in the sensory bin for the next kid to do the puzzle.
